With beautiful New England fall scenery as our backdrop, Eagle Hill hosted our current parent community on Thursday, October 21st through Sunday, October 24th. Parents reunited with their children met with their teachers, coaches, and dorm counselors, and participated in tons of Family Weekend fun!
Kicking off Thursday evening, parents connected with faculty over hors d’oeuvres and refreshments in the PJM STEM Center and Waller Trustee House. Celebrating our first time together as a community in almost two years, the unseasonably warm evening weather allowed us to take advantage of our outdoor spaces all over campus, including the first reception hosted on the Hoyt Terrace and Commons.
Friday began a busy day of conferences and activities for students, parents, and faculty. Sessions related to college admission and life after Eagle Hill, along with a robust college fair with over 40 schools in attendance, gave our juniors and seniors ample information as they started or narrowed their post-graduation options. Taking full advantage of another beautiful fall day, our outdoor events were enjoyed by many with an afternoon cross country meet and the fan-favorite Pioneer “tailgate,” which saw the boys’ varsity soccer team play host to Dublin School. In a hotly contested match, the tremendous effort from the Pioneers earned them a roaring ovation from the hundreds who attended the tailgate and showed their support. The night concluded with a gorgeous outdoor atmosphere on the Alsop Amphitheater, as popular Eagles Tribute Band 7 Bridges Road played an extensive playlist of rock n’ roll hits.
Saturday continued an abbreviated day of parent/teacher conferences, beginning with a delicious community brunch and closing out with two more great efforts from Pioneer athletic programs. Both the varsity girls’ soccer and volleyball programs played host to MacDuffie School, showcasing their heart and pride in front of their proud Eagle Hill community. The weekend concluded with many students spending quality time with their loved ones before departing Sunday morning after another excellent breakfast buffet.
