Muir Wood Adolescent and Family Services (‘Muir Wood’), which operates residential treatment programs in northern California for adolescent boys with mental health and substance abuse issues, is proud to announce that the Muir Wood Learning Center is now accredited by the Accrediting Commission for Schools, Western Association for Schools and Colleges (ACS WASC). The Muir Wood Learning Center, recognized by the California Department of Education as a private school, is now recognized as a Supplementary Education Center/Program with full accreditation.
According to Scott Sowle, Muir Wood Founder and CEO, “Accreditation from WASC is a milestone for our organization. We have always strived to go above and beyond for the teens and families we serve at Muir Wood. Our organization is not only accredited by WASC, but our clinical program is also accredited by both Joint Commission and CARF, licensed by both DHCS and DSS in the State of California, and in-network with most major large insurance providers. Our goal has always been to make exceptional care accessible.” Tammy Gregg, M.Ed., Academic Director at Muir Wood adds, “With WASC accreditation we now have the ability to award credits to virtually all schools. I believe we are one of the only residential treatment centers with a WASC-accredited academic program.”
