CEDU Closure
April 5, 2005
Regarding the article concerning school closures;
Cascade School also closed under similar circumstances in
that families, employees, and referring professionals were
given very little notice. The impact of that school closure
continues to be experienced by the many people forcibly "displaced."
It is a sad commentary on how the commitment to families can
so easily be dismissed when the profit margins are no longer
acceptable to those making the decisions.
I am heartened by the individual/industry response
to the CEDU closure. The "silver lining" may indeed
be the return of qualified, experienced educators to positions
of authority where the best interests of families/employees
drive the decision making process, not the bottom line.
Sincerely,
Jackson Culotta
