BONNERS FERRY, Idaho (March 1, 2005) - Northwest Academy is pleased to announce that Dan Schaefer has been appointed to the position of admissions director for Northwest Academy, a therapeutic boarding school that specializes in working with 17-year olds at-risk of not graduating from high school due to emotional and behavioral issues.

Dan has more than 15 years' experience in the fields of education and outdoor program admissions and recruitment. While serving as admissions director for two Outward Bound programs (Colorado Outward Bound School and Thompson Island Outward Bound Education Center), Dan assisted thousands of families as they sought appropriate programs for young people. Most recently, Dan worked directly with students at Principia College, where he served as a career counselor.

"Dan has been with us now since late January and has immersed himself in learning everything there is to know about Northwest Academy. Referring professionals will find him enthusiastic and capable," said Northwest Academy Director Ruth McKnight. She added, "I'm looking forward to having him attend the upcoming IECA conference."

Northwest Academy is a coed residential high school whose accelerated-academics program is designed exclusively for 17-year-olds with emotional and behavioral difficulties that are at risk of not completing 11th or 12th grade. This pioneering educational model consolidates up to two years worth of credits in just one year and results in a high school diploma while providing intensive counseling for the student and a strong healing component for families. Dan can be reached by phone at (877) 882-0980 or via e-mail at dschaefer@cedu.com. For additional information visit their web site at www.northwestacademy.com.
