Stepping Stones is a 10-bed group home for girls ages 13-18
with low self-esteem, loss of interest, experimentation with
drugs or alcohol, poor academics, bad attitude, disrespect,
poor adjustment to change and a lack of accountability. Stepping
Stones has a licensed counselor and “qualified staff” who
work with the girls on their emotional growth issues through
daily groups and daily reflections.
While at Stepping Stones girls participate in a variety
of activities including hiking, sleigh riding, skiing,
swimming, fishing, camping and boating. The teens learn basic
life skills to help them grow into mature, responsible adults.
These skills
include, cooking, balancing a budget, baking, caring
for children, house keeping, emotional growth components,
gardening and
an understanding of family dynamics.
The girls live in
a home-style atmosphere where they learn to care for their
personal needs while attending a public
school located nearby. Although it is optional,
in-home therapy is available. Copyright © 2005,
