“Clonlara School was founded in 1967 as an innovative, private
school serving 5 through 18 year old students in Ann Arbor.” In
addition to Clonlara’s “fully-functioning day school” that is
accredited by the National Private School Accreditation Alliance,
they also have a Home Based Program and CompuHigh, an online high
school.
As part of their Home Based Program, “Clonlara does enough of
the parents' administrative tasks
to allow them the freedom to
teach on their own.” They provide
home educators with a comprehensive
K -12 program, as well as a contact
teacher for each family who “shepherds
the student files, responds
to parent letters or e-mail,
and offers as much counseling
and guidance as necessary.” Other
services Clonlara offers include
interacting with all outside
officials for the family regarding their
child’s education, including
completing forms for outside
agencies such as Social Security
or Social Services. Clonlara
maintains all student records, and their
graduates receive complete final
transcripts and a private school diploma.
Also, the director is available
as a witness in court procedures
for families who face court action
not directly involved with home
schooling.
Clonlara’s CompuHigh, an online high school that operates entirely
online, allows students to take
individual courses, or their
entire high school education,
at the end of which they receive a private
school diploma. “Students set
the pace for their own courses
and each course instructor works
with students to achieve mastery of the subject matter, before
moving on to the next lesson.
Enrollment can take place at
any
time and courses are accessible
24 hours a day, 7 days a week…Mentors
will respond to students postings
within a 48 hour time period,
and CompuHigh courses are project-based; not test- based.” Clonlara
School’s
“CompuHigh has provided online
accredited high school courses
for Clonlara School since 1994.”
Clonlara also has a Temporary Enrollment Program, when for any
variety of reasons, a student may need to earn one or more credits
to complete a grade or to graduate from their conventional school.
“School counselors often recommend Clonlara's Temporary Enrollment
Program” because it is thorough and accredited. Clonlara’s staff
“works cooperatively with the student's own school personnel.
They help document and verify the student's work, making credit
acceptance a matter of course. Upon successful completion of the
Temporary Enrollment Program, students receive an official Clonlara
transcript listing courses completed, dates, and grade earned.”
On their website, Clonlara lists a large number of colleges and
universities where Clonlara students have been accepted. |
