Founded in 1986, ARISE is a not-for-profit resource that “researches,
writes, creates and produces
books, posters, videos and
other educational materials
for use by those who teach
and oversee troubled and underserved
youth.” They claim they have
trained and certified over
3,000 instructors who have
then taught over 2,000,000 documented hours of their Life-Management
Skills Lessons to more than
500,000 at-risk youth.
The goal of their curriculum and staff training is to provide
troubled and underserved youth with easy-to-understand and interactive
life-management lessons. They claim that their professional life-skills
training course “can reduce staff turnover, lessen staff stress,
improve staff communication skills, reduce liability exposure”
and can provide the knowledge “to easily teach ARISE social skills
to often reluctant students with serious behavior problems.” A
full list of their publications and training courses can be found
on their web site. |
