Brenda Hammond,
Director of Eagle Mountain Outpost, reports "We are
now ready to develop the OUTPOST part of our
program."
The school has leased an
old Forest Service station in a remote area called Shiloh
adjacent to uninhabited State land between Sandpoint
and Bonners Ferry.
Once bunkhouse and main
house remodeling and construction have been completed this
summer, all new students will enter through Shiloh Outpost.
The Shiloh program will
consist of a minimum of 30 days of "basic living" with no
TV, music or telephone for 6 boys at a time with 2-3 staff.
Staff will help students
start addressing the reasons each boy has come to Eagle Mountain.
The Shiloh Outpost will
also be used for academic testing for new students as well
as a place for struggling students to return to for re-focusing
for whatever period of time is necessary.
Fall looks like the target
date for official start-up.
