West Shield Investigations
Adds Agents
West Shield Investigations,
California 800-899-8585, announced adding three new agents
to their team for transporting young people. They include
Linda McKinney with an extensive background in Crisis Counseling,
Drug & Alcohol Rehab, and Mental Health Treatment: Christine
Britten with extensive training in Adolescent Care Units and
2 years of experience in investigations: and Reggie Doss,
an L.A. RAMS All Pro Defensive Line Man with a degree in Counseling
and involved with tours to different High Schools to discuss
Drug & Alcohol issues, Gang Violence, and Motivation Intervention.
Educational Consultant
Establishes Her Practice
Frances Turner, Potomac, Maryland, 301-299-2012, has established
her practice as an educational consultant. She has 20 years
experience as classroom teacher, reading specialist, Dean
of Students, Admissions Director and Assistant Headmistress
in public and private schools in New York and Maryland. Her
motivation to establishing her educational practice was seeing
the needs not being met of underachieving and low self-confidence
young people.
Echo Springs Hires
Admissions Director
Rhea Verbanic has been hired to handle Admissions for Echo
Springs Transition Center for young people ages 18 and older.
Echo Springs is outside Sandpoint, Idaho. Rhea comes to Echo
Springs from Spokane, Washington where she was the District
Director for the Muscular Dystrophy Association. Rhea grew
up in Pennsylvania.
Provo Canyon School
Adds New Building
Provo Canyon School, Provo, Utah is adding a new building
in the front courtyard right next to the glass enclosed swimming
pool one sees upon entering the school.
Discovery Academy Receives
Comments On Their Campus
Discovery Academy, Provo, Utah has been receiving lots of
comments about the warmth and beauty of their new campus of
stone and brick and "Ivy Tower." A frequent comment to visitors
by students of what they liked best is "the academics," which
is individualized and performance based.
Straight Arrow Camps
Opened Their Doors
Shirley and Bruce Morelli of Straight Arrow Camps in Cusick,
Washington have just opened their doors and have had a number
of consultant visitors this summer to see them, their program,
and their herd of buffalo. They emphasize a nurturing environment
for the student who needs a change. The Morellis don't take
highly resistant children. (Remember, you heard of them first
in Woodbury Reports, Issue #22, June, 1993.)
Crisis Intervention
Training For All Agents
West Shield Adolescent Services are requiring all their transport
agents to go through CPI's 12 hour Crisis Intervention training.
