Wood's Homes
Jim Campbell, Coordinator, Resource Development
Calgary, Alberta
(403) 270-4102

"Wood's Homes is a non-profit organization operating throughout Southern Alberta, devoted to the assistance and nurturing of troubled adolescents." Founded in 1914 by Reverend George Wood as Wood's Christian Homes, since the mid-seventies it has expanded to treat young people with a wide variety of problems. "Wood's currently offers more than 25 distinctively different family and community-oriented services for adolescents. There are walk-in services, outreach programs, community homes and follow-up programs coordinated with other agencies." Their facilities include residential campuses and schools in Calgary and Red Deer, and community residences in Calgary, Medicine Hat and Lethbridge. Though the primary focus is serving the needs of Southern Alberta, they also offer specialized services to out-of-Province adolescents including the Yukon, Northwest Territories, and the Maritimes. Their mission statement is: "To promote and restore the development and well-being of children and their families within the community."
