As San Pablo Treatment
Center celebrates its 30th Anniversary, the respected residential
facility for boys 12 to 17 has expanded to include a day treatment
program. The not-for-profit, fully accredited adolescent treatment
center has added a separate campus for St. Paul's Academy
which provides academic remediation and behavioral and emotional
counseling.
"We recognized the
need for a specialized program that would address the needs
of young men who need a more intensive academic and therapeutic
environment than is available through traditional channels,"
said Lowell E. Andrews, President and CEO. "Many school districts
are not able to provide for the special education and counseling
needs of their students. St Paul's Academy offers them a less
costly alternative to hiring staff and developing facilities
for one or two students. The new program extends San Pablo's
continuum of care and opens alternatives to better tailor
programs for individuals who are covered by managed mental
health plans," he added. By moving the classroom facilities
to a separate campus, San Pablo was able to expand its residential
facilities to 36 beds.
San Pablo residents
attend classes, counseling and some therapy sessions at St.
Paul's Academy. The new campus includes administrative and
clinical offices, kitchen and dining hall, seven classrooms,
a dispensary and athletic field facilities. San Pablo is recognized
nationally for its comprehensive treatment programs. San Pablo
addresses all areas of dysfunction - personal, social, educational
and family - in an environment that fosters positive change.
Both San Pablo and St. Paul's provide a highly structured,
highly disciplined environment of positive incentives and
therapy designed to restore self worth. Together San Pablo
and St. Paul's accommodate up to 60 young men with a staff
of 120 clinical professionals, trained child care providers
and teachers.
