Remuda Ranch Programs for Eating Disorders, the nation's leading
and largest inpatient treatment center for women and girls suffering
from eating disorders, today announced it plans to open a treatment
center in Caroline County, near Bowling Green and Sparta, Va.,
in early 2007. The facility, a former Easter Seals camp,
is situated on 516 acres and has 30,000 square feet of building
space. The 30 to 60-bed facility plans to offer three inpatient
programs for women, adolescents and children. It will be
state licensed and JCAHO (Joint Commission on Accreditation of
Healthcare Organizations) accredited.
Remuda Ranch first opened its doors in 1990 in Wickenburg, AZ. Since
then, the center has treated more than 7,000 patients with eating
disorders. The center's program and settings are different
from the traditional, institutional format offered at hospitals
and clinics. Remuda's Christian programs offer a balanced,
multi-disciplinary team approach that is designed to treat the
whole person and meet her unique medical, nutritional, psychological
and spiritual needs. Additionally, Remuda Ranch has excellent
recovery rates -- more than 95 percent of former patients no longer
have a diagnosable eating disorder one year after completing treatment.
"We look forward to being able to offer our programs in the
eastern part of the nation," said Ward Keller, president and
founder of Remuda Ranch. "Caroline County offers an
environment that is very healing, secluded and peaceful. All
these elements are essential to the success of our programs."
The new treatment center will employ approximately 120 people on
site over three shifts. Remuda Ranch will be looking for
highly skilled professionals such as; psychiatrists, medical doctors,
registered dietitians, Masters level therapists, psychologists,
mental health technicians, academic teachers, equestrian instructors,
administrators, managers and nurses.
"Caroline County has been very welcoming and supportive with
our plans," adds Keller. "With its incredible location,
we hope to attract employees from surrounding metropolitan areas."
Remuda Ranch is currently submitting an application to the zoning
authorities in Caroline County. It is also in the process
of obtaining appropriate licensing for the new facility.
