Optimum Performance Institute Participants are back after a dramatic
trip to Peru where they spent 10 days visiting the Land of the
Incas including Machu Picchu and the Manu Wildlife Center in the
Peruvian Amazon Basin.
They were be accompanied by Program Director Joseph Roberson.
The customized trip was organized by Geographic Expeditions, a
San Francisco-based adventure travel company voted one of the world’s
top ten tour operators by Travel & Leisure magazine
and a Top Travel Pro by Conde Nast magazine.
Participants visited archeological remains, participated in an
Andean-style traditional feast and an ancient Incan ritual and
viewed hundreds of parrots and macaws at a clay lick from a floating
catamaran .
OPI coordinates trips like this with Geographic Expeditions in
order to help participants:
- Develop a sensitivity and appreciation for the needs and points
of view of others;
- Learn to appreciate the innate values that makes each of them
special;
- Recognize the importance of qualities such as tolerance and
patience—traits that can be gleaned from interacting with
others in unique circumstances.
OPI is a highly individualized residential/therapeutic and educational
program for 17-25-year olds. Participants stay a minimum of 6 months.
