On Friday, September 8, 2006, Hidden Lake Academy will hold a
ribbon cutting ceremony for a new administration building on campus
which houses the new spacious library. According to Matt Paul,
Director of Academics, “the academic program at Hidden Lake
Academy is excited about the possibilities that this space will
offer to both students and teachers alike.”
As the floor-to-ceiling windows invite the lush natural forest
in, students have access to over 9,000 volumes of fiction and non-fiction
to accentuate their learning. The library also houses subscriptions
to current magazines, reference material, college information,
audio/visual equipment, and media material. The learning environment
is complimented by comfortable reading alcoves for studying.
In addition to the tangible materials, the new Library will also
house an additional eighteen unit computer lab for student research
and individual academic pursuit. Each computer will offer the Microsoft
Office Suite as well as internet researching capabilities with
access to Galileo and other academic tools. Hidden Lake Academy
also participates in the PINES Borrowing System. Through this program,
students gain access to materials from any library in the state
of Georgia within a few days. HLA continually seeks ways to enhance
student learning.
The Library’s new space also lends itself to accommodate
up to two classes at a time for research or lecture. The academic
department is energized with the possibilities this presents. A
small conference room adjoins the Library for individual meetings
or departmental training.
Hidden Lake Academy…opening minds and creating futures.
