Confident Living, Inc., the oldest family-focused transition
program in the United States for underachieving young people and
families in crisis, announces that it has begun providing services
to Bay Area families from a new Northern California office in
Menlo Park. Combining the talents of noted Northern California
therapists and practitioners, with its proven, therapeutic, action-oriented
practice, Confident Living, Inc. has brought a new approach and
dynamic model for success to an old problem - helping and healing
young people and their families. Located at 431 Burgess Drive
in Menlo Park, CA, the new office is lead by Robin Acker, MFT,
a 20-year resident of the Bay Area who has spent much of her career
in leadership roles within the behavioral health care field.
Working with Northern California educational consultants, psychologists,
psychiatrists and public/private school systems, Confident Living
has found immediate acceptance of its unique approach and philosophy
among Bay Area families. The mission of Confident Living is to
promote the health and wellness of families while transitioning
underachieving youth into higher functioning adults.
"We estimate that there are over 500,000 teens that may
be classified as "at-risk" or underachieving across
the United States," shared Terry Tierney, CEO. "In the
past year, we have had a number of California families come to
Colorado to be part of our program, so it made sense to bring
the practice closer to them. With Practitioner Teams located on
the Peninsula, in the East Bay, the city of San Francisco and
Marin County, we are ready to collaborate with the many unique
and qualified referral sources that serve the needs of so many
Bay Area families."
Founded in 2000 in Boulder, Colorado, Confident Living has worked
with hundreds of families in Colorado and across the U.S. who
seek guidance in helping their children deal with the myriad of
issues facing young people today. While Confident Living may be
the first place families begin the healing process, it has found
a niche in transitioning children and young adults from wilderness
programs and therapeutic boarding schools back into their home
community environments or even college.
