Dear Colleagues:

It is with deep regrets that we inform you that Northwest Academy School Director Lori Rist has tendered her resignation. In her nearly 20 years with CEDU, Lori’s leadership, dedication, and commitment has been unparalleled and she will certainly be missed.

An opportunity presented itself to Lori for the chance to live out a dream and she has chosen to follow this new path. Lori will be leaving Northwest Academy to work with Snowmass Alpacas in Sandpoint, Idaho, one of the nation’s leading alpaca ranches with a herd of more than 600 alpacas. Raising and showing alpacas, an animal that is a relative of the llama and camel and raised for their long, lustrous wool, has been a passion of Lori’s for nine years. Lori’s own herd of alpacas has received national recognition. She is also president of the Pacific Northwest Alpaca Association.

Lori began working with CEDU High School in 1984 and has been at Northwest Academy since 1998. We have benefited greatly from her leadership during her tenure with CEDU and want to highlight some of her accomplishments:

- She was a valuable member of the team that started Boulder Creek Academy.
- Lori worked to create a unique signature for Northwest Academy that meets the needs of families who are not being served by other emotional growth boarding schools.
- She created a safe environment where students recognize the value they receive. This is evidenced by the number of students who choose to remain at Northwest Academy following their 18th birthday and often after completing their requirements for a high school diploma.

Dr. Roger Rinn, CEDU Education Vice President of Idaho Operations, will acts as interim director until a permanent replacement is found. Efforts will commence immediately to recruit a new school director.

Lori’s last day will be March 19th. Please join us in wishing her the best in her new endeavors. As always, we encourage you to let us know whenever we can serve you better or when we exceed your expectations, which is always our goal. Thank you for your continuing support. CEDU Education looks forward to continuing its work in partnership with you in the care and education of children.

Warm Regards,

Robert Naples
Chief Executive Officer

Roger C. Rinn
Vice President of Idaho Operations
