[New Perspective]
Since 1970, La Amistad Behavioral Health Services
has been meeting the needs of children, adolescents, and
their families who are seeking a structured, supportive
environment in which to deal with academic, emotional,
and behavioral difficulties. The Learning Center at La
Amistad is an on-site school that is dedicated to
providing quality, individualized education for students
in elementary, middle, and high school grade levels. The
curriculum includes Math, English, Science, Social
Studies, and various electives. Also offered are
therapeutic outings and community service projects with
content-based themes that provide lessons in
life-skills.
The students at La Amistad Learning Center engage in
“active learning” through the extended curriculum
including, SAT Prep, GED Prep, vocational counseling,
and on-line courses through Florida High School.
The Learning Center is based on the philosophy that
attention to the individual needs of each student,
accomplished through small group instruction and
one-to-one attention, will result in academic excellence
for all. |
