Here is the line-up for today's show: Our first guest was Tami Harris, the Chaplain and the Director of Spiritual Care at Heritage School in Utah. Tami explained that each student has the opportunity and choice to learn about different religions and feels her mission is help students grow in their spiritual life as well as their emotional growth and therapeutic healing. "When a student has an 'ah ha' moment and sees there is a God and he loves me", this is when the healing is taking place". Everyone at some time questions: who am I? What am I here to do and who is God? Our mission at Heritage school is to integrate a spiritual aspect into the program and it is available for each student. Next in our line-up of guests was Kim Mlinarik, LMHC, CDP and co-founder of Alchemy Adventures, now in its second year, which offers transformational travel experiences for young and older adults. Kim shared about the upcoming trip they will be guiding in May 2015- a trip to Tuscany which offers its participants a total "immersion" in the culture of Italy with a walk from hill town to hill town- visiting five different cities, exploring the countryside, the wineries and the vineyards, creating a mind, body and soul experience. Kim explained that these types of trips are a meaningful way to 'get out of boxes', leave roles and responsibilities behind and have an adventure. "It is like a spiritual quest for those to tap into a deeper part of themselves. Tuscany is a magical country with a slower pace than in the USA and our mission is to guide people thru those kinds of experiences." And our last guest was Ben Hancock, a Community Service Worker at CooperRiis, a therapeutic community for those who struggle with mental health challenges. Ben shared with Lon their newest adventure at CooperRiis…the opening of their Etsy store (an online marketplace). On this site, they are selling their homemade soaps made from goat's milk, from the goats that they raise on the farm on the campus. All the proceeds from selling their soap goes towards scholarships for the CooperRiis residents. Ben explained that often a person living with a mental illness loses the rhythm of their lives, but working on these products gives them a purpose, they gain a good work ethic and they get to see how something is made from start to finish. "It makes life richer I think."
