If the question is Nature vs. Nurture, then using the wilderness as a healing tool for struggling teens sometimes means this is the wrong question. David LePere, Executive Director of Cherokee Creek Boys School in South Caroline, joined Lon Feb. 13, 2015 to explain how Nature can be a tremendous tool in Nurturing struggling kids back to healthy attitudes. Add some basic emotional type counseling to an outdoors experience, and Nature does a lot of Nurturing. Part of it is the fact that something in humans responds positively to a nature experience, and overcoming the challenges nature gives us is exactly what a lot of kids raised in cities need. Add to that the removal of gadget distractions, and caring counseling/therapy, and everybody benefits, especially the students. Listen to David as he explains this important healing tool.
