Using his own personal experience as a parent with a self destructive son and learning to navigate through the complexity of resources available to parents with a struggling child, Don, who calls himself a "just in time" resource, offers support and mentorship in assisting parents to become their own self advocate in making the best decisions possible for their child, while preserving the integrity of their family. Don Purves is certified as a Life Coach from the Hudson Institute in Santa Barbara, CA, and holds certificates in both Systemic and Arise drug intervention models. He is a Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) and specializes in the IEP process. He has held numerous positions within the parent choice industry including: Admissions Director for a young adult drug and alcohol treatment program, Marketing Executive for a young adult independent living program and a Web Marketing Consultant for young adult addiction treatment centers. The services provided by Parent and Family Advocate, LLC include Parent Advocacy, which includes assessment, research of treatment options and support in working with schools, courts and treatment professionals; Aftercare Support which includes a development of a Family Living Contract, aftercare planning and life coaching and independent living skills, and Financial Advocacy which assists parents in learning financial options that may be available including student loan programs, scholarships and student aid opportunities.
