From Strugglingteens.com New Perspectives Indianapolis, Indiana Lutherwood is a residential treatment center accepting boys and girls, ages 6 to 21 who are recovering from the emotional, physical, and psychological effects of abuse, neglect, or abandonment. Children with addiction and abnormal sexual issues are also accepted. Children with IQ's lower than 65 must be individually assessed before admittance. Upon admittance to the Lutherwood program, an individualized treatment plan is created to address specific issues of each child. The plan is prepared by a treatment team consisting of a psychiatrist, the Director of Clinical Programs, educational specialist, and a youth counselor. The facility works closely with the Indianapolis Public School system and has several on-site classrooms with certified special-education teachers to assist in the remedial educational needs of the children. The educational curriculum meets all standards of the Indianapolis School District and includes one hour of individual therapy and one hour of group therapy for each child each week.
