Discovery Academy, a therapeutic boarding school for boys and girls located in Provo, Utah, is proud to celebrate the 5-year anniversary of their Academic Center, a 25,000 square foot facility. The Academic Center houses 8 classrooms, a library, cafeteria, fitness center, recreation center, fine arts performing center, family meeting rooms, therapists' offices and a girls dormitory. Discovery Academy has been serving families since 1989 and has worked with over 1,000 families throughout the years and specializing in helping 'bright underachievers' reach their potential through strong academics and therapy.
Discovery Academy has a unique learning environment, with a teacher-led, individually-paced curriculum including classes from Special Education to Honors-level. Instead of the 'conveyor belt' approach that is utilized in many public schools, Discovery Academy has a 'treadmill' approach that can be adjusted according to each student's abilities and needs. The competency-based standard requires that students achieve 80% mastery before moving on in each course. The small classroom environment ensures that each student receives individualized attention from their teachers. Classes are held in the afternoon, providing optimal timing for adolescents to engage in education.
