Basketball Season is upon us and the boys at the Chamberlain International School couldn’t be more excited. They are playing in their fourth season as part of the Middleboro Sunday School Basketball League, a competitive 10 team league comprised of kids from Middleboro, MA and surrounding towns. It is an opportunity for the students to interact with the community and provides coaching to all skill levels.

The team is coached by Bob McDonough who is also a Teacher at the therapeutic boarding school nestled in the small town in rural New England. “The boys never quit and are playing stellar defense”says the Coach. He also reports that they are 2-1 to start the season and envisions them continuing to improve. Shooting Guard Ben C. has been playing since the inaugural season and is looking forward to his Senior season. “I love playing and nothing feels better than getting the win.” For some of the students this is their first experience playing an organized sport for a team.

Sportsmanship and Teamwork are the main components of the program. Regardless of the score and individual achievements the students are focused on giving their best effort and keeping a positive attitude. “Just the fact that they have an opportunity to get out there and compete with students from the community is awesome” says Residential Director Ryan Fitzgerald. All games are on Saturdays at the Nichols Middle School in Middleboro.
