Ramah in the Rockies is excited to announce the creation of BaMidbar Wilderness Therapy, a wilderness therapy program for Jewish young adults. Addiction, trauma-related issues, and mental illness are as common in the American Jewish Community as in the rest of society, yet there are limited treatment options that fully meet the needs of at-risk, Jewish young adults. BaMidbar Wilderness Therapy is working to ensure Jewish young adults can access treatment in a supportive and culturally relevant setting. BaMidbar integrates Jewish values, texts, and traditions into the clinical intervention and wilderness experience, and emphasis Jewish community as a resource for positive social supports. Jewish metaphor, ritual, and storytelling provide a foundation for programming that transcends the wilderness experience, and helps students connect lessons learned within the program to life outside of the wilderness environment. Programming is Kosher and Shabbat-observant, allowing young adults to access treatment in a setting that fully meets their religious and spiritual needs.
BaMidbar Wilderness Therapyis a program of Ramah in the Rockies, a 501(c)3 public charity. BaMidbar is opening admissions this June, and will run its first program in January, 2018. BaMidbar will run three 54-day closed group programs per year.
