Alpine Academy, announces the Grand Opening of the Gary & Ann Crocker Education Center, located on their campus in Erda, Utah.

Alpine Academy is a nationally-recognized residential treatment center for teenage girls. It consists of six homes on 32-acres in the rural neighborhoods of Erda, located in Tooele County. It is owned and operated by Utah Youth Village, which has been providing residential treatment for children for 37 years.

Designed to resemble a barn in order to blend in with the rural nature of the area, the Crocker Education Center will provide a junior high school and high school accredited education program to teenage girls who are working on issues ranging from Depression and Anxiety to Reactive Attachment Disorder. "The girls who come to us have been through the wringer," says Alpine Academy Director, Janet Mulitalo. "Many have been away from their families, attending various programs, for years. Over eighty percent of our girls graduate from Alpine Academy, ready to resume a productive life with their families and friends."

"Gary and Ann Crocker have been committed and generous supporters of the Village and the children we serve for many years," says Eric Bjorklund, Utah Youth Village President & CEO. "Their many acts of compassion and kindness coupled with their generosity, makes them the perfect namesake for the Village's latest and largest construction project, the Alpine Academy Education Center."

Gary Crocker currently serves as the Chairman of the Board for Utah Youth Village. In addition to his many charitable endeavors, he is the Chairman of the Board of Merrimack Pharmaceuticals, an integrated, biopharmaceutical company committed to the innovation of life-enhancing medicines for the treatment of autoimmune disease and cancer. He is also President of Crocker Ventures, LLC, a venture investment firm focusing on health care and medical technologies. Mr. Crocker founded and served as President and Chief Executive Officer of Research Medical, Inc. Forbes magazine recognized the firm for six consecutive years, 1991-1996, as one of "America's Best 200 Small Companies." He was awarded Utah's "High Technology Entrepreneur of the Year" in 1994 and Utah's "Entrepreneur of the Year" in 1999. Additionally, Gary is a board member of the Salt Lake Branch of the San Francisco Federal Reserve Board.

The Crocker's have a long history of interest and contributions to academic endeavors; both Ann and Gary serve on the BYU President's Leadership Council. Mr. Crocker has also served as the Vice Chairman of the University of Utah Board of Trustees, and Ann and Gary worked to fund and create the Crocker Science House at the University. Their philanthropic awards are many.
