Alpine Academy has just completed another successful service-learning excursion to the border of Mexico.

Eight of our students, accompanied by two of our seasoned staff members, spent a week on both sides of the border providing service by helping on farms, teaching children, and helping the homeless and displaced. They also learned about the impact of border issues to both the USA and Mexico and saw firsthand the ways that poor communities can learn to thrive and be resourceful.

The girls all commented on learning a lot about gratitude. Not only did they gain a greater appreciation for what they have, but also saw how grateful the individuals they served were for the services provided; even something as simple as giving them a drink of water had these people expressing thanks.

We are proud of our girls and they way they represented themselves and Alpine Academy.

Alpine Academy offers family-based residential treatment that is uniquely successful at helping teenage girls learn the skills to succeed at home, in school, and with their own families. Alpine is a part of Utah Youth Village, one of Utah's oldest and largest charities providing treatment to children and families in crisis.
