Aspen Education Group Announces New Leadership at Bromley Brook School in Vermont
Aspen Education Group, the nation's private-sector leader in providing therapeutic education to underachieving or struggling young people, has announced the appointment of Laura Mack as the new executive director of Bromley Brook School in Manchester, VT, effective December 1, 2005. Mack was previously the school's academic director. Founded in 2004, Bromley Brook was established as Vermont's first boarding school for underachieving high school girls who are bright and capable but struggling socially, academically and emotionally.
"All of us at Aspen Education Group are delighted that Laura Mack has accepted the position of executive director and that she will play an even greater role at Bromley Brook going forward," said Bo Turner, senior vice president at Aspen Education Group. "As a member of Bromley Brook's senior management team from its inception, Laura helped to define the strategic vision for the school and helped to lay the foundation for its ongoing success - and the success of its students. She shares with us the belief that the long-term success of these young women comes through the integration of both education and personal growth."
"It is an exciting time for all of us at Bromley Brook, as we build upon a remarkable first year and continue to enhance our services for students and families," said Mack. "We have created a vibrant, safe and enriching community at Bromley Brook School that celebrates the unique individuality of each girl and her family. Bromley Brook partners with families and referring professionals to ensure that students will be provided the resources and mentoring support to discover their inner passion and build the necessary self-confidence to lead joyful and successful lives."
An accomplished researcher and teacher, Mack played a key role over the past year in helping to establish Bromley Brook as an innovative all-girls school emphasizing high academic achievement and personal growth. Through the years, she has served in top leadership roles at several prestigious private schools around the country, and brings over twenty-five years of academic and managerial experience in secondary schools and higher education to her new position. Prior to joining Bromley Brook, Mack also served as acting director of the Institute for Secondary Education at Brown University, where she was responsible for the strategic direction, budget and administration of this nationally recognized institution. Mack earned her B.S. degree from Eastern Michigan University, and her M.A. and ABD/Ph.D. degrees from the University of Michigan.
Bromley Brook School has received national attention for its emphasis on results-based learning tailored to each individual student. Known for its demanding, research-driven college preparatory curriculum - designed especially for girls - the program helps girls develop a love of learning and includes a strong emphasis on science, mathematics and technology as well as a unique arts program that was featured in the New York Times. With its supportive and nurturing community, small classroom settings and comprehensive assessments, the school helps students build an outstanding academic portfolio while also positively changing the lives of girls who have had difficulties succeeding due to low self-esteem, low self-confidence, and family and peer pressure.
