In order to reach more children and families, the New Hampshire Summer Program has added 10-16 additional slots for boys and girls ages 7-18.
First year research data from the Wediko Transitions Project shows an increase in the frequency of prosocial behaviors and a decrease in withdrawal and aggressive behaviors towards peers and adults.
Wediko's 45-day Summer Program is the nation's oldest short term residential treatment facility; since 1934, the program has been a model of excellence in serving youth and families struggling with social, emotional, and learning issues. The 450-acre waterfront campus is a therapeutic milieu for children ages 7 to 18, combining the activity-based structure of a summer camp with the academic instruction and intensive clinical intervention of a residential school. Working closely with each child's family, school, and referral agencies, Wediko strives to return each child to his or her home and school with a renewed sense of competence and hope.
