Christopher Locke has announced that he will be stepping down as Academic Director, effective January 26th 2007, in order to allocate more time and energy to his writing. For Chris, writing is both a passion and a gift. During the month of February he will be traveling to Mexico to spend time with his family and to concentrate on his writing. Although Chris’ focus is changing, we are extremely pleased that from March through the end of June 2007, Chris has agreed to remain as a teacher and a support to the Academic Department as we conduct a search for a new Academic Director.
We are pleased to announce that Sarah Wagner has been appointed the Interim Academic Director and that she will be working closely with Chris, together with the Academic Department Heads, Dr. Carol Keyes (Arts and Humanities) and Mr. Oliver Arigi (Mathematics and Science), in maintaining the effectiveness and efficiency of the Academic Department. Sarah has been with Shortridge Academy since its’ inception in 2002 and she is currently the Assistant Academic Director. Sarah and Chris have worked together for four years to develop and implement our unique and challenging curriculum. Since her graduation from Brown University with a degree in Educational Studies, Sarah has been a teacher in a variety of diverse educational environments. She is currently completing (June 2007) her M. Ed. in Educational Leadership.
Sarah, Carol, and Oliver, with the support of our management team, are very committed to working together, with Chris, to ensure a seamless transition for our students and for Shortridge Academy. If you have any questions or concerns please feel free to call either Hannah Mariotti, Sarah Wagner or Adam at the school.
Warm regards,
