Kim Garner, MSW, CSW, joined the Outback family on October 9, 2006. She will be supervising our young ladies group.
Kim specializes in treating the following, Attachment Issues, Depression, Mood Disorders, Eating Disorders, Parent-Child relational issues, Identity issues, substance abuse and addictions.
When working with girls with eating disorders, Kim focuses on helping them develop a healthy body image while initiating the therapeutic rapport necessary to work on the many underlying issues. Kim's belief of integrating this treatment with dual diagnosis issues such as depression, trauma and abuse, and issues within the family system allows the wilderness to be a safe and healing place for girls to learn how to be the subject of their lives, develop healthy coping skills and a sense of inherent self worth.
Kim has over 15 years experience treating adolescents in wilderness, hospitals and residential treatment settings. Most recently, Kim was a Primary Therapist at Aspen Achievement Academy in Loa Utah. Kim's experience also includes treating addictions at Passages to Recovery.
Kim received her Masters in Social Work at the University of Utah. While in her Masters Program, Kim specialized in treating women with dual diagnosis issues, such as: Addictions, Depression, Trauma and Parenting and Relationship issues.
Kim's experience working with the family system to support lasting change will be a valuable contribution at Outback Therapeutic Expeditions. Please join us in welcoming Kim to the Outback family. She can be reached at 801-376-6298.
