Focal Point Academy is a residential treatment program for boys, ages 13-17, suffering from depression, low self-esteem, oppositional defiance, drug or alcohol abuse, family conflict, learning disabilities and/ or adoption issues. Students are accepted into the program from a variety of settings including home, wilderness, prep school, etc. Each student is individually assessed for treatment and educational planning.

The program offers a home-style environment for up to 15 students, with each boy sharing a room with two to three other students during their 9-12 month stay. Focal Point offers the boys access to several sports related activities including basketball, soccer and a ropes course. Students also have the option of participating in community service, recreation, music and/ or art projects.

Focal Point Academy offers academics through Oak Meadow Jr. and High School, a traditional and computer-based high school program. Students attend classes at the campus under the constant supervision of Nevada State certified teachers. The boys may also participate in courses from Brigham Young University Independent Study Curriculum if they need to catch up or work at their own pace. Brigham Young University is fully accredited by the Northwest Association of Accredited Schools.

Focal Point therapists have at least a Master's Degree and focus on family systems, peer culture, cognitive and behavioral therapy and de-escalating behavior therapy. The program promotes a positive peer culture to help the youth encourage each other to reach the goals they have set for themselves and for their group. This positive peer culture offers the boys an opportunity to see how their actions and behaviors affect the entire group.
