Founded in May 2007, On Purpose Transitions is a transition program for young adults who are 18 or older challenged with low performance in school resulting from ADD/ADHD, learning or nonverbal learning disabilities, substance and alcohol abuse, anxiety disorder, oppositional defiance disorder, bipolar disorder, depression, personality disorders, low self esteem and lack of confidence or motivation. Other disorders may include obsessive compulsive, post traumatic stress or cognitive disorders. Young adults in this program must be willing and able to participate in improving their performance in school or work and devote time towards creating positive change, achieving goals and work towards constructive solutions.
Primary staff at On Purpose Transitions includes Executive Director, Edward J. Wenzler III, DPP, CFI; Program Director, James L. Bell, MA, LPC, CAC III, and Counselors, Isabelle Tierney, MA, LMFT, and Matthew Tomatz, MA, LPC, CAC III.
The key feature of this program is the mentoring partnerships. They consist of a program manager who works with the young adult to create an execution plan, a psychotherapist, skills trainers who work directly with the participants to provide skills and motivation to achieve goals within the execution plan and Peer Mentors who provide support and motivation.
There are a variety of educational prospects in the Boulder area including the University of Colorado-Boulder, Naropa University, Regis University, Front Range Community College, the Culinary School of the Rockies and the Lincoln School of Technology.
For those wishing to obtain work skills, On Purpose Transitions has partnered with several employers and local temporary hiring agencies in the area to provide internships and opportunities for gaining skills in a work environment.
