I am not familiar with your website and just happened upon it while heading for Discovery School's website, but I thought I'd take a minute to put in my two cents. I am leaving for Dillwyn, VA, next week to attend the high school graduation ceremony for my daughter, who is a Discovery Student, and to bring her home after 18 months at the school. I have been extremely pleased with our experience at Discovery.
The overall program is well organized and supervised; activities and consequences are consistent, well thought out, tough but non-shaming; staff are respectful of the girls and their families and easy to work with. The education program is excellent and has addressed my learning disabled daughter's needs more effectively than any other school experience to date. My child did not want to go away to school, and taking her there was pretty traumatic for the rest of our family, as well.
We are excited about welcoming her home again, but leaving Discovery is going to be harder than any of us could have imagined a year and a half ago. Discovery has become her "second family", and we are so grateful that she has had the opportunity to be a part of this program.
