The Colorado Boys Ranch, founded in 1959, is a “nationally
recognized psychiatric treatment center for troubled youth.” This JCAHO accredited private nonprofit treatment facility provides
intensive mental health treatment and educational services to boys aged 12 to 18 years. They serve youth who suffer from emotional
and educational problems and who are usually described as unmotivated, angry, hurt, oppositional, argumentative, aggressive and noncompliant.
“Through individual, group and family psychotherapies provided by professionally trained therapists”…they “offer over 80 different
treatments, educational, vocational and recreational programs and services that encourage the youth to explore and discover his abilities
not disabilities and advantages not disadvantages.” Their special education, vocational and GED preparation services are fully accredited
and they are fully certified by the Colorado Department of Mental Health and Department of Human Services.
