GOTHARD AT BRANDON HALL 
(January 10, 2001) Brandon Hall School, Atlanta, Georgia, 770-394-8177, announced Dr. Andrew M. Gothard, Psy.D., has been appointed as Director of Psychological Services. “Brandon Hall provides students with a structured, supportive, educational environment meeting the needs of students with learning differences and attention deficits.”

HLA A WILDLIFE SANCTUARY 
(January 13, 2001) “The Atlanta Audubon Society awarded Hidden Lake Academy the distinct honor of becoming an official Wildlife Sanctuary in December 2000.” Hidden Lake Academy uses their acreage for the benefit of student’s “educational, spiritual and therapeutic activities.” Hidden Lake Academy, 800-394-0640, http://www.hiddenlakeacademy.com, hiddenlakeacademy@alitel.net is located near Dahlonega, Georgia, about two hours north of Atlanta.

CIVIL SUIT AGAINST OBSIDIAN TRAILS 
(January 17, 2001) The Oregonian, http://www.oregonlive.com, reported that the mother of a youth who died in September while in the Obsidian Trails Outdoor School filed a $1.5 million wrongful death lawsuit against the program. 

BOYS TOWN BROCHURES 
(January 19, 2001) George Lang, Coordinator of Admissions for Girls and Boys Town, Nebraska, 402-498-1905, reports their new “Procedures for Admission” brochures can be obtained from his office stating, “All referrals to Boys Town must be made by some social service/family counseling/mental health agency or Juvenile Court.”

BRIDGES ACADEMY COORDINATES WITH SAGEWALK 
(January 24, 2001) Larry Solie, President of Bridges Academy Corp. and CEO SageWalk, The Outdoor School, Bend, Oregon, 541-318-9345, bridges@coinet.com, announced the recent growth in Bridges Academy. Bridges now has 19 students and has added Guy LeGuyonne in admissions and James Engum, from SageWalk, as Program Manager. Dr. J. Huffine reports that SageWalk is expanding to work with Bridges “to introduce more of the positive peer and group philosophy of the wilderness therapy model to Bridges.” Joan McOmber will continue as Family Counselor and will develop the after-care program for Bridges Academy. Sandra Hinkel will be the Field Operations Coordinator for SageWalk and Don Sellers, LCSW has recently joined Bridges Academy as caseworker.
