IT’S A BOY!
(November 5, 2001) Denise Westman of Provo Canyon School, Provo, Utah, 619.588.7499, announced they are welcoming Jonathan Dan Cory to the world, who arrived October 19, 2001, weighing in at 6lb. 11 oz and 19”. Proud parents are Kelly & Dean; Kelly Cory is the Regional Director for Southern California and Colorado.

SUNHAWK DESCRIBES UPGRADES AND ADDITIONS (November 12, 2001) Kevin Baron, Executive Director of Sunhawk Academy, St. George, Utah, (800) 214-3878, info@sunhawk.org, describes recent additions which include: “the library, computer lab, new beds, lockers, basketball & volleyball courts, computers, furniture, medical exam room.” They have also added “additional teachers, a librarian, a special education consultant, a field director, a nurse’s aid, an admissions counselor, a clinical assistant, two therapists, and some great staff members in the Academy as well as in the wilderness.”

HITCHCOCK NEW HEADMASTER OF CEDU
(November 13, 2001)  Diane Huggins, spokesperson for Brown Schools, 615-279-9696, dhuggins@brownschools.com, announced CEDU High School’s Academic Director Greg Hitchcock has been named headmaster of the CEDU High School and CEDU Middle School, emotional growth boarding schools located in Running Springs, California.  Hitchcock has been the school’s academic director since 1999, and before that was had directed the Woodland Lodge Program for St. Johnsbury Academy in St. Johnsbury, Vermont and also several leadership positions at Mount Bachelor Academy in Prineville, Oregon. Brandi Elliott will remain as Director of CEDU Middle School, and Tony Becker as Director of CEDU High School.

STEPHEN BOZAK VISITS WOODBURY OFFICE
(November 10, 2001) Stephen Bozak, MA, CEP, IECA, a educational consultant and psychometrist in Clifton Park, New York, bozah@mail.usa.com, 518.373.8069 stopped by the Woodbury Office, with his assistant, Greg Ballard. They showed Loi Eberle, MA, their directory which lists over 900 schools and programs, and had their picture taken at the sign, before heading out to tour CEDU’s North Idaho programs, 208-265-0607.

BOYS WILL BE MEN DOCUMENTARY AVAILABLE ONLINE
(November 14, 2001) A documentary about growing up male in America, entitled “Boys Will Be Men” now has a website for ordering and screening information. It was produced by Tom Weidlinger, tom@boyswillbemen.com, the award-winning producer of the PBS series MAKING PEACE. Boys Will Be Men” includes videotaped segments of participants and counselors from SUWS, a therapeutic wilderness program in Gooding, Idaho, 888-879-7897.

PHIL JONES OF TIMBER RIDGE VISITS WOODBURY REPORTS
(November 14, 2001) Phil Jones of Timber Ridge, Clark Fork, Idaho, 800.305.4812, Ext. 01, stopped by Woodbury Reports to discuss Timber Ridge. Jones, former staff member of Elk Mountain, and later, Whitely Meadows, is excited to now be helping Cindy and Mark Scott, owner/operators of Timber Ridge, an elegant and rural home in which young women can modify past behavior and refine their life skills. It also offers a variety of academic options, including, when appropriate, attendance at Clark Fork Junior & Senior High School, with its combined population 150 students, a special education teacher, resource room, and satellite link to classes at the University of Idaho.  In addition to Timber Ridge’s therapeutic work, in-depth individual counseling with Mary Sims.
