Recently, Academic Consultants has begun to emphasize its services in the Emotional Growth/Therapeutic school and program area. Founded in 1986 to help families find quality educational options, the firm provides Testing Services, Test Preparation, College Counseling and Placement Services. 

Kim Rubin, the Director of Academic Consultants, has over 30 years of experience in educational consulting, diagnostic testing, and psychotherapy. She has Masters degrees in Psychology and Special Education, is a Licensed Professional Counselor and is a Certified Educational Planner. Matthew Fontis has 10 years experience as a college counselor and has designed several test preparation courses for high school and college entrance exams. Jan Kapustinsky, M.A. was an outreach coordinator for a child/adolescent/family counseling organization and also was an Administrative Coordinator at a basic science research facility at Los Alamos National Laboratory. 

Their placement services include: Traditional Boarding Schools, High School and College Placements for LD, ADD/ADHD Students, Eating Disorder Programs, Alcohol/Chemical Dependency Programs, Transitional boarding Schools, Wilderness Programs, Residential Treatment Centers, Therapeutic Boarding Schools, Programs for Anger Management and Oppositional/Defiant Disorders, Programs for Attachment Disorders and High School Placements for Dyslexic Students. 

A key aspect of their work is their focus on respecting each child’s unique qualities.
