KIDS 1 “is a private provider of specialized education services for children and youth facing learning, language, and social challenges.” It has eleven day schools and learning centers in five eastern states. Their mission “is to build the confidence and competence of students with special needs through personalized, academic interventions. Ultimately, we want our students to leave our schools with a renewed sense of confidence in their own abilities along with the skills and knowledge they will need to live as independently as possible in the future. We accomplish our mission by getting students to experience success in the classroom early on.” The High Road Schools and Learning Centers are located in New Jersey, Maryland, and Connecticut. Using the “KIDS 1 educational model, our specialized day schools provide a full academic curricula in a supportive learning environment. Related services, such as speech and language therapy, occupational therapy, and counseling are also available. Transitional services assist older students in preparing for adulthood, independent living, and careers.”

The High Road Academies and Learning Centers are located in Maryland and Florida. “Focusing on state-of-the-art programming in instruction, High Road Academy is a specialized school serving the educational needs of students with learning disabilities or specific language disorders.”

The Alternative Learning Centers are located in New Jersey and Pennsylvania. “Designed with the at-risk student in mind, the ALC provides intensive, individualized academic instruction in the basic-skills domains during the first half of the school day followed by a supervised period of job training and employment at the on-site retail store. This unique setting places the student in the ‘mainstream’ of the formal economy. The school setting consists of one or more classrooms placed in the midst of major worksites such as business parks, retail stores, hotel and resort locations, sports arenas, and other major economic industry worksites. This innovative on-site program reduces the segregation of students from the social and economic mainstream helping to shape responsible adult behavior.”

The Oak Crest Country Day Camp: “A mainstream summer day camp, Oak Crest provides campers with structured recreational and learning activities emphasizing fun, friendship, good sportsmanship, teamwork, and the development of a healthy self- esteem.”
