Glacier Mountain Expeditions is a 3-6 week short term therapeutic outdoor
program for adolescents between the ages of 13 and 18. It is located in North Idaho with three site locations of approximately 400
acres.
"Each child brings to the world their own fresh, unique and untapped set
of possibilities. Yet as they enter the vast wilderness of adolescence, the value, the wonder of their own uniqueness often becomes
lost. Many parents begin searching for the child who used to be. Their child looks familiar, but is only a shell of someone else they
once knew so well. It's painful to deal with the adolescent who is hiding, and sometimes damaging the child who used to be. Studies
show that no less than HALF of today's young people have self destructive behavior patterns that block the development of their potential.
Due to the dangers inherent in our society today these behaviors may well place the child and family at risk."
Children come to Glacier Mountain for a variety of reasons. Most are experiencing
behavioral difficulties in many areas of their lives. In most cases these children have what it takes to be successful, but because
of misguided feelings about themselves and family, they have little real access to the real child and the abilities they possess."
Glacier Mountain's determination is to make a tangible difference with each
and every child by finding ways to build their sense of self-worth.
