Summit Preparatory School is a non-profit organization located on 500 wooded acres on the outskirts of Kalispell Montana in the northwest Rocky Mountains near Glacier National Park. Summit Preparatory School is a non-profit therapeutic college prep boarding school for bright high school age boys and girls who are not progressing or are failing in their regular school and home settings (due to emotional, family, psychological, learning and/or social difficulties). Summit utilizes a developmental model designed to promote emotional & social maturity; quality relationships with family & others; and academic success. Our students come from all over the United States and internationally, and we serve a maximum of 64 students. Our unique location offers quick access to air transportation and medical care; while also providing opportunities for involving teens in numerous healthy outdoor activities (hiking, camping, mountain biking, skiing…) and community events (volunteer experiences, concerts, town outings…). Our campus was designed specifically for the purpose of serving this population, so includes such amenities as: a full size gym, climbing wall, weight room, indoor pool, art room, science lab, and playing field). Position Description:
The Therapist provides clinical leadership for an assigned team of staff comprised of the therapist, two bachelor prepared residential staff and an academic liaison (e.g. leads multidisciplinary team meetings; facilitates team clinical interventions…). Each team is assigned approximately 10 boys. The Therapist also provides individual, group and family therapy for the boys on their team; facilitates a weekly across team group on a clinical theme (e.g. adoption, grief…); participates in family workshops; attends/participates in team outdoor experiential trips (up to 4 times a year); and shares emergency on-call for the organization with the other therapists.
Position Requirements:
Minimum of a master’s degree in a behavioral health services related field (MSW preferred) with at least two year's experience (four or more years preferred) working with adolescents in a counseling and/or human service related field. Prefer experience working in a residential setting. Licensed/license-eligible in Montana (licensure within approximately one year of start date and maintenance of license is required). Demonstrated ability to provide professional psychotherapeutic services for adolescents (and their families) with psychosocial, emotional, or behavioral problems (experience working with chemical dependency problems a plus). Demonstrated ability to work as an effective clinical leader with co-workers and must be a team player. Love of the outdoors a plus and must be willing to participate in occasional backpacking trips with team.
