Vantage Point by Aspiro is a clinically advanced, short-term, Wilderness Adventure Therapy and assessment program. We are licensed by the state of Utah as an outdoor therapeutic program for adolescent boys and girls ages 13 through 17. We specialize in helping students with a wide range of learning, developmental, neurological, emotional and behavioral difficulties. Students benefit from the challenges and rewards in a high adventure therapy model. Accurate assessment and diagnosis and training in specific coping skills are essential for overcoming learning problems. Our base camp provides safety, flexibility and accessibility. Our passion is providing a safe, supportive, clinically sophisticated, experience for our students. Program length is flexible according to the needs of each student and averages six to ten weeks.
Vantage Point by Aspiro provides healing, direction, and personal empowerment through a solution-based clinical approach that is strategically combined with daily adventures. These high impact adventures may include canoeing, snowboarding, skiing, caving, canyoneering, top-rope rock climbing, rappelling, hiking, and mountain biking. Specialized programming is provided for students with significant learning issues and more complex clinical issues.
Therapist Responsibilities: provide accurate, in-depth assessments; individual, group, and family therapy; psycho-educational training, specific skills training, develop treatment plans with clients and family; family conference calls at least weekly; maintaining contact with families and referring professionals regarding client progress and aftercare recommendations; coordinating and working as an integrated treatment team; training of field guides; maintaining proper documentation; writing appropriate progress reports and discharge summaries; facilitate family workshop activities and adherence to professional and ethical practices.
Qualifications:
- License to practice mental health at the Masters or Ph.D. level (Ph.D. licensed psychologist preferred).
- Will consider license eligible or intern level applicants.
- Experience or strong aptitude for working in the outdoors.
- Experience or strong aptitude for interpreting and implementing psychological testing in treatment.
- Experience working with adolescents.
- Very strong communication skills, able to represent and market program to referral sources and parents.
- Experience working with primary referral sources (educational consultants and other referring professionals) is preferred.
