SeaChange Hawai'i

Be a part of a unique, cutting edge program that utilizes the world’s most untamed wilderness – the ocean!

Seeking a Masters Level Therapist, to work with youth from across the United States enrolled in the SeaChange Hawaii program.

SeaChange Hawaii is a 28-day Ocean Based Adventure Therapy Program that is designed to provide physical and emotional challenges, structure, community building, metaphorical learning, and clinical opportunities that enable your child to overcome personal challenges.

Throughout history, “going to sea” has been a transformative experience. Patterns of leaving home, being on the ocean, facing and defeating monsters of many kinds, and returning home having mastered self and other challenges are familiar aspects of the hero’s journey. SeaChange Hawaii believes that these “stories” hold more truth than mere fairy tales; there is something about ocean voyaging in sailing ships that is inherently powerful and compels adolescents toward competence and maturity.

The Voyaging Therapist will be responsible for providing individual, group and milieu therapy while onboard the 96 ft. Sailing School Vessel the Makani Olu (gracious winds). The Voyaging Therapist will carry a case load of up to six “cadets” and will rotate with another therapist to ensure that there is always a Masters level clinician on board. The Voyaging Therapist is also responsible for the clinical oversight of all staff on the voyage/ expedition and provides direct supervision to the line level staff (therapeutic sailing instructors).

Qualifications:
Must have a Master’s Degree in LMFT, MFT, LCSW, MSW, MC, from an accredited school, five years of experience providing therapy, outdoor/ wilderness therapy experience preferred, experience with leading expeditions, effectively managing a team of voyaging/expedition staff. The candidate should possess knowledge of REBT, Narrative Therapy, Family System , and Adventure Based Counseling.
