High School Journalism Teacher |
The Family Foundation School, Hancock, New York, a private, college preparatory boarding school for teens at risk, seeks a journalism teacher for its integrated program of academics, counseling, and 12-Step recovery work.
Responsibilities
The selected individual will be responsible for teaching journalism to high school students, with an emphasis on transforming the school newspaper to a digital publication that maintains a regular publishing schedule. The students will continue to produce a print version of their work, but in a format that supports the implemented changes, with consideration given to a magazine format published on a bi-monthly schedule. The course taught will follow New York State Regents requirements for an English class.
Requirements
- BA/BS in journalism, English, communications, marketing or public relations.
- Demonstrable experience in creative project management, writing and developing feature stories or marketing pieces (work samples encouraged).
- Able to inspire excellent student work.
- Able to hold students to deadlines.
- Experience in web content development, blog posts, email marketing, and list development.
- Able to multitask and effectively manage workload to meet specified deadlines with strong attention to detail.
- Strategic, proactive, innovative, and able to thrive in a creative marketing team.
- Able to seek out new opportunities and avenues to deliver measurable results against communications goals.
- Able to work independently, yet be a valuable team member.
- Demonstrable experience with Wordpress and a variety of social media platforms.
We are a year-round school and most teachers work Tuesday through Saturday or Sunday through Thursday. Teaching certification is not required.

- Respond to parent and referring professional inquiries by telephone and email
- Describe The Family Foundation School’s unique program
- Interview prospective parents
- Interface positively and professionally with staff, students and families
- Provide counseling support to parents in crisis
- Develop and maintain relationships with referring professionals
Qualifications
Masters degree preferred. BA with relevant experience accepted. Experience in education, customer service, marketing and/or counseling is required. Previous admissions experience highly desirable. The successful applicant will also possess:

Registered Nurse (R.N.) |
DESCRIPTION
The Family Foundation School is seeking a full-time Registered Nurse (RN) to work with adolescents in a unique residential setting. Our students, who come from many states and foreign countries, have diagnoses that include addiction, mood, oppositional, eating, and anxiety problems. The successful candidate will use his or her clinical knowledge and judgment to provide health care to students and staff; perform health screenings and coordinate referrals to outside health care providers; oversee school health policies, programs and services; promote health education; and serve as a liaison between school personnel, family, community and health care providers to advocate for health care and a healthy school environment.
QUALIFICATIONS
New York Registered Nursing license. General knowledge of adolescent health, including ADD and ADHD medications, and drug and behavioral issues. Relevant clinical experience in pediatric, ambulatory, public health or school nursing preferred. The ideal candidate is self-motivated, reliable, enjoys working with teens and communicates well with them. Familiarity with 12-Step recovery programs a plus. Must be a non-smoker. Masters Level Counselor |
DESCRIPTION
The Family Foundation School is seeking a full-time and a part-time masters level counselor (MA, MSW, LCSW-R) to work with adolescents in a unique residential setting. Our students, who come from many states and foreign countries, have diagnoses that include addiction, mood, oppositional, eating, and anxiety problems. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary clinical team which includes a psychiatrist, clinical psychologist, clinical social worker, MSW, licensed mental health counselor, and several family therapy counselors. Duties will include conducting group, family and individual counseling, and working closely with fellow staff in the therapeutic community.
QUALIFICATIONS
