Revolutionize Your Child's Life

Today's guest on Parent choices for Struggling Teens, was Peggy Caruso to talk about her latest book revolutionize your child's life which was released in August 4 of this year. In this wide-ranging discussion, she shared some of her thoughts about how the world is changed since parents were adolescence and how parents need to adjust to that. She also talked about the negative influences in our society that are increasingly influencing children. She feels that we are surrounded by negativity more and more since current adults or children. She shared that she has a bottle of water on her desk that is filled exactly half-full. Out of all the children clients that she has asked, only one has said the bottle was half-full. All the rest of them emphasize that the bottle was half empty which he takes as a sign that these children have developed negativity habits.

She explained how children go through three stages: from birth to seven they are in the imprint period; from age 7 to 14 she explains as the modeling period which is when children model and imitate behavior from those around them; and from age 14 to 21 is known as the socialization time when they develop their own identity. She explained the source of many adolescent problems can be found somewhere in the previous two stages.

She concluded the interview with a review of some of the changes children go through that might be signs of a developing problem the parents need to learn about and help their child with. Without proper intervention by parents, the children's negative thinking might turn into poor mental habits which can turn into self-destructive activities.
