Wilderness Challenger Parent
of Student Writes Letter
The following was a copy of a
letter written by a parent in the Fall of 1990 after the Salt Lake City
TV Channel Four ran a series on Wilderness Challenger. "I would like
you to attempt to undo the incredible damage you've done by focusing
on a Wilderness Therapy program which was dangerous and ineptly operated.
Our daughter attended Wilderness Conquest Inc. based in Monticello,
Utah in May and June of this year. This program was responsible for
turning her life around in a positive direction, when she was on a sure
course of destruction. The caring, loving structure provided by Karen
and Larry Wells program helped our young (15 yrs) daughter get in touch
with herself and her needs -not her wants. Learning survival skills
in order to graduate added self esteem she had never known before...."
